Bonfire Night 2023
The ROC homes were delighted when the lovely Red Rock home offered to open its garden and home to have a traditional family bonfire party. The homes descended onto the home each bringing traditional food to share including Parkin, homemade toffee apples, hot dogs and bonfire toffee. 30 children and staff celebrated with a bonfire, fireworks and sparklers. For most staff and managers this was the first time that ROC had celebrated the festival on site at one of the homes, citing Ofsted wouldn’t like it, or the risk assessment wasn’t worth it or wouldn’t be possible due to ‘health and safety’ issues. We at ROC are pushing back on those ties that often restricted children in our homes experiencing a fun and traditional family events and ensuring to jump through any loops to give the best positive experience to our children.
